Essay written by Elena Kuran 2024 at Northeastern University
This paper was shared with the Hatley family in 2024 when CRRJ displayed interest in providing insight for the family. Originally assigned to a different student, Elena decided to take on the Hatley case along with her other assignments. By that twist of fate, the Hatley's were able to get the information in 2024 and put on their Juneteenth event in 2025 where many noble faces of Memphis and crime victims, including Tyre Nichol's mother, were in attendance.
